September 2007

And I bought the “happy hooker”-crochet book from bokkilden.no the other day too, haha. I’m hoping I get it before leaving for Stavanger in two weeks, so I have something to do on the train. :)

At least when it comes to shopping for craft-stuff. What I bought off of “pandurohobby.no” yesterday:

* tutti frutti aroma
* “spring” embroidery floss
* embroidery needles
* “skråbåndbretter”
* thing with brown paper
* fun foam letters
* trick marker for fabric (ink fades away)
* white pencil for fabric
* masking tape
* crocodile things (5stk)
* “borrelås”-thing
* “winter” embroidery floss
* 3 colors of hobby felt
*  some white felt ribbon thing
* round canvas panel
* christmas tree-stamp
* some thread-things
* wooden panels, round + squared
* surprise packet.

Renate, my sister made some cupcakes. Which meant that I got to test out the wilton icing color I bought at “Jernia”. It’s so much brighter than the normal food coloring that we get in Norway, plus it doesn’t taste anything. Atleast not compared to that normal food coloring, hah.

PS; the color on the left one is most correct.

And here’s the icing color I used:

Yep, today took a LONG walk. 7,5km, which is about 4,5 miles. I walked for an hour and 45 minutes, and I’m pretty tired now. It was nice though, haven’t walked there in at least a year. But since my legs aren’t that fit, I think I’ll feel it pretty much tomorrow, hah.

Also, yesterday I finally finished my scarf. I had to buy another skein of the thread, and I was just maybe 4 meters short, hah. Renate wanted one for her birthday, because it’s so soft :) She said it felt almost like her polish rabbit (hermelin) to her neck :)

So, pictures of the scarf and of where I walked :)

And I wasn’t at work today. Plus, I’m borrowing my grandfather’s car again, until Sunday. Therefore, I went to “downtown” for a short while. There, I got some grayish yarn. Eyelash yarn as it’s called. 100% polyester, and really soft. So I was going to make a scarf of it, using a tutorial found in a Norwegian ordinary week magazine. I’ve now worked on it for 4-5 hours today, and I’m probably about 1,5 hours away from finishing it, since It’s a skinny scarf. But my fingers started to hurt, and I want to get out of the house a little bit, so I’ll finish it tomorrow, or maybe before I go to bed tonight.

So this is just a post, showing that I haven’t gone all dry with crafts, just almost :) Because I’ve been kind of apathetic lately, and haven’t really been wanting to do anything.. Oh, well, it’s better now!

Here’s the pictures of the yarn skein and the finished part of the scarf.

So now it’s almost been a week since I last wrote. What I’ve done since then has been mostly working. And hanging out with Thomas. Yesterday, I drove my mom to some garden shops. And we went to downtown for a short while, where I bought a wok pan on sale. Made myself some wok dinner a bit earlier today, which tasted niiice. Although a bit garlic-y, hehe.

I really have not done anything crafty lately. The closest thing was that wok dinner today :) But yesterday I also bought some food colouring on jernia, which I’m gonna use to make a cake to my sister when her birthday comes. Atleast I want to test out some american type cake-thing. We’ll see.

Yeah, and ofcourse, yesterday and on thursday night, I went to check out Trond Vegard & Dominique’s new apartment. It’s lovely, big and old with a lot of personality. They just moved in a couple of days ago, so it’s not “finished” yet, but it sure made me long for moving away from home myself.. Only 10 months to go, hah. :P

Yep, that’s mostly what I did today. Got up at 08.00. Biked to work, started at 10.00, and had to work an ekstra hour until 19.00, which sucked but atleast I get some extra for working after 18… Then I biked REALLY fast home, because I had gotten a message from my mom that it was dinner in 15-20 minutes. When I got home, all i did was eat that dinner and then jump into the bath tub. After getting out of there, I checked the regular pages on the internet and then started a new granny square :) Finished that, and joined it with the last one. I’m getting better at it now, hehe.

Now it’s 23.08, and I’m heading off to brush my teeth, since I’m going to work at 09.00 tomorrow :)

here’s the joined granny squares:

Today was this week’s day off work. Which means I’ll be working tomorrow and Saturday, but next week will be grrrreat (free on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday ;) )

Because I spent much of last night looking at pictures of “Babette Blankets” link, I had to go downtown today to get some yarn and a new crochet hook (because my old one is somewhere in all my crafting stash, and I don’t feel like looking for it, lol. plus it’s too small) This new was of bamboo, and is really nice! I also bought cotton yarn in light yellow, orange and red. And was going to learn myself how to make granny squares. I do have a crocheting book, in Norwegian, so I could learn the basics. And there was also a recipe for a granny square. It wasn’t quite the one I’d seen on the internet, but I thought it was best to start with the original recipie. That being said, I must confess it didn’t turn out very well, haha. Atleast not in the middle, before I started understanding how it worked.

So after being finished with the first, I tried again. This time I wanted to try making a more solid (like those I saw on the internet), and it worked out pretty well too. Without any recipe, so I’m pretty proud actually. The only bad thing is that it got a little wonky. So I’m thinking it might be best to stick with the first one, with more holes, so it stays more flat. Anyway, it’s just practice..

first try:
you can see how ugly it is in the middle,haha. And then I started to understand what I was doing around the end.

second try:
It’s easy to see I already had gotten more practice :) dscn0273_2.jpg

Finally, a picture of my new sweater bought on vero moda. :)
I thought I coud take a picture of that too, while I was on it, hehe.

I feel like all I’ve done lately has been working. I know that’s not true though, because I’ve just been working the past two days, and had a lot of days off before that. But since I worked 10-18 those two days, and that’s what I’m gonna work tomorrow and friday too, it feels more than it really is. Luckily I have thursday off, so I can stay up a bit longer on wednesday.

I actually did something crafty yesterday though. Made a couple of new pages on the Barcelona album. Only two though, because it takes a while + I have a real lack of inspiration and creativity. I tried making more today, since I ended up staying at home today too. But all I got to do was matting the three images. It’s not that I have a shortage of time or anything, but the album has been lying around on the floor or at least taking up space the last three months. And I want to do other things, but feel as though I should finish that album first, so I can start out more freshly and not have several projects going on at the same time..

And apart from that, I really want to make pretty cakes, haha. Like the ones from USA, with a LOT of buttercream/other decoration. Like for instance this. (opens in new window) My mom has a cake decorating book that she got for her birthday some years ago, which has got recipies to make decoratingstuff similar to the american one. So I need some supplies (like always..) and then I can make Renate a lovely cake for her birthday the 4rh of October. I need that time anyway, since I need to gather supplies/test stuff etc. And I’m not sure if the idea will ever come to life either.. oh,well :)

Here’s the new barcelona pages atleast :)

I haven’t done much lately. Have had some days off work, because I’ve now gotten an 80% contract, so I’ll be working a day less every two weeks than I’ve done earlier. Still, I haven’t done any crafty things, partly because my room was a mess. Yesterday I finally cleaned it, so it’s better now. Was going to do more on my scrapbook from Barcelona, because I’ve almost forgotten it, and I need to do more on that before it’s too long ago. (It’s already been 3 months)

The new camera pouch will be made eventually, but is on hold because the first I made is fine.

Yesterday, I was at Thomas Melby’s birthday party. That was fun, because some people that I hadn’t seen in a while, came. :) Today, I’ll just be chilling at home, then go to my Thomas’ place later :)
